Offices

Office of Research

The Office of Research will conduct intramural and extramural nature-based research; facilitate the creation of interdisciplinary research and investigative teams throughout the United States and beyond; and develop collaborative alliances with new and existing affiliates throughout the United States, world, and African diaspora.

Office of Programs

The Office of Programs will leverage existing programs, such as NatureRx@UMD or BET In FLO, to initiate actions (e.g., “Recoloring Nature Network”) for promoting nature belongingness; and convene a cadre of scholars to critically examine the racialization of nature.

Office of Recognition

The Office of Recognition will work to achieve action-oriented acknowledgement of ancestral lands and Indigenous People in the United States; recognition and atonement of land based trauma born from anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism; emphasize nature equity and belongingness among these and other marginalized groups through programs and initiatives.
