Offices

Office of Research

The Office of Research will conduct intramural and extramural nature-based research; facilitate the creation of interdisciplinary research and investigative teams at the University of Maryland and beyond; and develop collaborative alliances with new and existing affiliates throughout the United States, world, and African diaspora.

Office of Programs

The Office of Programs will leverage existing programs and actions, such as NatureRx@UMD, to create an advocacy and nature preservation program operated by the University of Maryland for the greater Maryland community; create the “Recoloring Nature Network” to promote nature belongingness for BIPOC; and convene a cadre of scholars to critically examine the racialization of nature.

Office of Recognition

The Office of Recognition will work to achieve action-oriented acknowledgement of ancestral lands and the Indigenous People in Maryland; recognition and atonement of land based trauma born from anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism; emphasize nature equity and belongingness among these and other marginalized groups through programs and initiatives.
